A puppy's love is unconditional. No matter how big or small they are, before you know it they have found a place in your heart forever. When you leave, they miss you and patiently await your return. When you are near, they want to play with you. When you are sad, they are there to comfort you without having to say a word. Even when you get mad at them for doing something wrong, they still love you and want your attention. Their life spans are not nearly as long as ours and when they pass, it is as if we have lost a family member. Our hearts ache and our tears flow. Eventually our smiles do return and all the special moments they brought into our lives can be remembered without crying. A puppy's love is unconditional... Love them while they are with us and know that it is normal to mourn them when they have left us.
I am dedicating this next book to our 8 month old chocolate lab named Riley. He died recently from surgery complications. The void in our hearts is not easy to explain but it did make me realize that there are so many other people out there that go through the same thing. We bring these furry little creatures into our home and into our hearts and they do become part of the family. I would like to share my stories with you and have you share your stories with me.
